Where does the money raised go?

Funds raised through Move Your Butt directly supports Kiwis living with bowel cancer.

Your fundraising efforts helps us provide dedicated nurse support, create essential educational and awareness resources, offer free physio, counselling and financial support, and invest in research to improve treatment and outcomes to save Kiwi lives.

How do I sign up for Move Your Butt?

Sign up now and fill in your details, set your fundraising goal and you're ready to go

Once you sign up, personalise your page and share your challenge far and wide to ask your friends and whānau for their support.

Do I have to walk or run?

You can move your butt however you like as long as you can track your kilometres. So walk, run, bike, swim, ebike, treadmill, exercycle - and help beat bowel cancer.

What if 100kms is too hard for me?

If 100km is too hard, you can set your own personal distance goal when you sign up (or at any time from your dashboard).

You can also team up with friends and family to hit the 100km goal. It’s all about just giving it a go!

How do I log into my account?

Click on the login button in the top banner of your fundraising page (next to the ‘Sign up now’ button) and enter your username and password.

What if I’ve forgotten my username login or password?

Your username is the email address you used during registration – contact [email protected] if you can’t remember the email you registered with.

It's easy to reset your password, just head to the login page and click "Forgot password?". It'll send you an email, then you'll be on your way. If you didn't receive the email, make sure you check your junk or spam folder. It might take a few minutes to arrive. Any problems just email us.

When does it start - can I sign up after 1st Feb?

The challenge begins on the 1st Feb 2026, but you can start whenever it suits you.

You can join anytime from December to February. 

How do I manually update fitness activities on my page?

You MUST log in to the back end of your page first, and then go to the 'Log my kms' section.

From here, you can enter the date, distance and activity details, and these will be displayed on your fundraising page (please allow at least 15 minutes for the kilometres to appear on your page).

Will everyone's KMs reset on 1st Feb?

Move Your Butt is all about getting Kiwis moving in honour of the 100 lives lost to bowel cancer each month.

KMs won’t automatically reset on 1st February, as this flexibility allows patients, their families, and other participants to start logging their activity earlier if needed.

For those who prefer to start fresh on 1st February, we’ve explained how to reset your KMs in the question below. This way, you can tailor the challenge to your goals while supporting an important cause.

Fundraising Questions

How much money do I have to raise?

There is no minimum amount to raise - every single dollar counts to beat bowel cancer and save Kiwi lives.

Remember, when you raise $150 you'll earn an official Move Your Butt t-shirt for your challenge.

How do people donate to my page?

When you sign up, a fundraising page will be created for you!

Simply share the page URL with friends, whānau and colleagues to ask for their support. 

All donations are made securely through Stripe. Bowel Cancer New Zealand directly receives the funds.

How do I donate to myself?

Making a personal donation is a great way to kick-start your fundraising and show your commitment to save Kiwi lives!

You can donate during the registration process or at any point across the campaign by clicking the 'donate' button on your fundraising page.

How do I encourage people to donate?

The best way to get people to donate is to tell them what the cause means to you! We know asking for donations can seem daunting but once you get started, you'll see how many people want to support you!

Remember to share progress updates throughout January and February and bring your supporters on the journey with you!

Do you have any resources I can download?

How do I share my page?

You can share your page via email, Facebook, LinkedIn and more from your fundraising dashboard, or simply by sharing your unique page URL.

How do I thank my donors?

Saying thank you is so important! You can see every donation in your fundraising dashboard and you're able to post a message of thanks to each donor from your dashboard as well!

Another good way to thank your supporters is doing a 'thank you' post on social media and tag everyone who has donated so they get a little public recognition too! It also serves as a great gentle reminder for other people who intend to donate but haven't yet.

Someone gave me cash, what do I do?

That's great! You can either deposit the cash in your account and put the donation through your fundraising page, or you can deposit the funds in our bank account (using the account details below) and we'll add these as an offline donation to your fundraising page.

If you transfer the donation to us, please email us on [email protected] to let us know, so we know whose fundraising page to allocate the donation to.

What if I want to cancel my page?

We absolutely understand - just email us at [email protected] and we'll remove your fundraising page for you!

Team Questions

Can I do Move Your Butt in a team?

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage it as it’s great to have the support of friends, whānau and workmates during your challenge.

How do I create a team?

When you sign up for the Move Your Butt challenge, you can select 'create a team' on the third step of the registration process.

If you've already registered, then you can click 'create a team' from your personal dashboard.

How do I join a team?

When you sign up for the Move Your Butt challenge, you can select 'join a team' on the third step of the registration process, and then choose the team name from the drop-down menu. 

If you have already signed up for Move your Butt, you can still join a team by logging into your fundraising page, finding the team fundraising page (that you want to join), and clicking 'join us'.

Can I set up a team at a later date?

If you’ve already signed up and would like to create a team, simply login to your fundraising page and select ‘Create a team’ from your personal dashboard.

How do teams get t-shirts?

The t-shirt incentive is at an individual level so each team member that raises $150 will be able to claim their tee.

Once a team member reaches this personal fundraising milestone, they’ll automatically qualify for their t-shirt, and we’ll arrange for it to be sent to them once they fill in the claim form.

Donor Questions

Are donations to Move Your Butt tax deductible?

Yes, Bowel Cancer New Zealand is a registered charity (No. CC44166). Every donation over $5 is tax deductible. When you make a donation to Move Your Butt online, you will receive a tax receipt via email.

Will I receive a donation receipt?

All donations receive a donation receipt by email and donations over $5 are tax deductible. If you haven't received your receipt, please check your junk inbox - or get in touch at [email protected].

Can I participate and donate if I don't live in New Zealand?

How do I buy a t-shirt?

Our T-shirts are our way of saying a special thank you to the fundraisers who raise $150 or more! They're not available to purchase.

How do I get my free t-shirt?

An email with a link to claim your tee will automatically be sent once you raise $150.
