Support my Move Your Butt challenge

This February, I’m taking on Move Your Butt for Bowel Cancer to raise money to support vital patient services and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love.

Because every month, 100 Kiwis lose their lives to bowel cancer.

Every dollar I raise for Bowel Cancer New Zealand will fund essential services for patients and survivors, such as counselling, physiotherapy, and financial assistance. These services provide the support and care that many people desperately need as they battle bowel cancer.

I’m asking for your help. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help me reach my fundraising goal and provide life-changing support and research to help those affected by bowel cancer.

It only takes a minute to donate, and your generosity will make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help fight bowel cancer and make sure no one has to face it alone.

Thank you for your support! 🧡

My Updates

Move my butt is the least I can do

Sunday 1st Feb
Hi I'm Amelia,
At the age of 21 I lost my mum to Bowel cancer. This turned my world upside down and inside out.
My mum was invincible, my super hero, a concrete solid person whom I could learn from, love, be loved and nurtured and with her gone. I struggled for many years with my grief which resulted in mental illness, addiction & poor choices.
I struggled to believe in any God or Power bigger than me because what greater power would put my mum through such an awful illness and take her away.
My mother missed my sibling get married she's the reason my husband and I eloped (because she was the glue that held the family together), she missed my children being born my nephews her great grandchildren. She has missed out on this beautiful gift of life and all the magic and growth. Fortunately she missed seeing me get well, flourish, get a degree, a career, live a life of recovery.
My father passed nearly two years ago. He suffered, he was stubborn he hung in there till he was just too frail to continue.
I miss my dad everyday, our daily chats that would end with me rolling my eyes. My parents are missing out on witnessing me parent, their grandchildren.
Bowel cancer is horrendous. It effects so many families and has made me an orphan at 38 years of age.
I loved my parents dearly and so now I am biking for the 'move your butt' Fundraiser to make sure that there is funding for important early detection  colonoscopys, support, awareness and treatment.
Please consider donating to this cause this month, $2 whatever you can spare. I will be grateful.
Thank you all
