Support my Move Your Butt challenge
This February, I’m taking on Move Your Butt for Bowel Cancer to raise money to support vital patient services and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love. I'm doing this for a friend and for my wife's cousin who both lost their lives to this.
Because every month, 100 Kiwis lose their lives to bowel cancer.
Every dollar I raise for Bowel Cancer New Zealand will fund essential services for patients and survivors, such as counselling, physiotherapy, and financial assistance. These services provide the support and care that many people desperately need as they battle bowel cancer.
I’m asking for your help. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help me reach my fundraising goal and provide life-changing support and research to help those affected by bowel cancer.
It only takes a minute to donate, and your generosity will make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help fight bowel cancer and make sure no one has to face it alone.
Thank you for your support! 🧡
My Updates
My Motivation
Tuesday 20th JanIn February, I’m going to challenge myself to complete 100 km for bowel cancer.
In 2018, I lost a friend and colleague I had known for many years to bowel cancer. It’s something that has stayed with me, and I often think about him.
Bowel cancer is one of those things people often find hard to talk about. It can feel awkward or uncomfortable, and because of that, conversations and checks can get put off. Too often, that delay matters.
In New Zealand, bowel cancer is one of our most common cancers, yet it’s also one of the most treatable when it’s found early. Organisations like Bowel Cancer New Zealand do important work raising awareness, supporting families, and pushing for better outcomes.
This 100 km is my way of remembering my friend and supporting a cause that deserves more openness than it gets.
If you’d like to support this in any way, whether through donating, sharing, or simply talking about it, I’d really appreciate it.
If you’ve ever had concerns, symptoms, or have been putting off a check, this might be a good reminder.
Thank you.
I am walking 100km in memory of my friend.

well done Sparky
