Support my Move Your Butt challenge

This February, I’m taking on Move Your Butt for Bowel Cancer to raise money to support vital patient services and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love.

Because every month, 100 Kiwis lose their lives to bowel cancer.

Every dollar I raise for Bowel Cancer New Zealand will fund essential services for patients and survivors, such as counselling, physiotherapy, and financial assistance. These services provide the support and care that many people desperately need as they battle bowel cancer.

I’m asking for your help. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help me reach my fundraising goal and provide life-changing support and research to help those affected by bowel cancer.

It only takes a minute to donate, and your generosity will make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help fight bowel cancer and make sure no one has to face it alone.

Thank you for your support! 🧡

My Updates

Morrinsville River Walk

Sunday 1st Feb
The day started out warm and it didn't let up, reaching 27C at it's peak this afternoon. So I was scrambling for any bit of shade I could find when I set out for my walk at midday! The heat didn't go unnoticed from home down to the start of the Morrinsville River Walk at Holmwood Park where not long after I found reprive from hot son under the shade of the trees dotted along the trach. The Studholme St to Avenue Road section which goes behind the Rec was closed off today so instead I stopped by the dairy for a cold bottle of water and walked down Cureton St to meet Gav at Avenue Road. We cruised past the town Pool on the way home which was a very welcoming view and couldn't help but take the kids back for a swim almost immediately after getting home. Pretty happy to haved knocked almost 8KM off the target on the first day!

Let’s go. We start tomorrow!!

Saturday 31st Jan
This February, i’m taking part in Move Your Butt 🍑 for Bowel Cancer to walk 100km to show my support to those who have been touched by this disease, whether personally or through the experience of a friend or family member.

I'm taking on this challenge in memory of my maternal grandmother 🥀 who died from bowel cancer in her mid-50s, for by father who was lucky to beat bowel cancer by early detection some 15 years ago 👏 and in support of my father-in-law who is on a journey to kick bowel cancer in the butt as we speak 💪

My goal is to raise funds for Bowel Cancer New Zealand to raise awareness, support patients and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love💜

If you have symptoms, take them seriously. Even if you don’t, take advantage of the screening available when it’s available to you - there are plenty of people that have no symptoms though are identifed from screening. And if you think you are too young, think again. There are a growing number of stories out there of people under 40 being diagnosed and dying from Bowel Cancer.

I would highly recommend the podcast Jo vs. Cancer. In this podcast my brave friend from Cromwell who passed away in 2023 shares snippets of her journey with the honesty and humour that many people really need - https://interactives.stuff.co.nz/2022/jo-vs-cancer-podcast/

Please support my 100km walk by making a donation to my fundraising page: Also, shout out if you want to go for a walk with me, the company is always welcome!
