100km in memory of Granny (Robby Watson)

I've been thinking about my granny a lot lately. She passed away from bowl cancer 10 years ago, in January, only a few weeks before I got married. She was a true force of character and matriarch of our whanau, full of magical stories for the children (and opinions on everything for the adults!), with unending energy and for manaakitanga/ looking after others in her whanau, on the farm and in the Dipton community. I still feel hear her voice loud and clear in my head whenever I bake anything in the kitchen or sit down to the piano. Bowel cancer took her so quickly, and my dear grandpa missed her so terribly, a double tragedy since he had lost his own mother, Eleanor, to bowel cancer while she was only in her 50s.

In honour of Granny (and Eleanor) I'm going to walk 100km over the month! I would be grateful if you could koha what you can.

100km something I once did in when much younger in 24 hours and which many of you can probably do in your sleep! But now, 15 years and two children later,  my exercise has gone down the toilet ('scuse the pun!). So I'm going to move my Butt for bowel cancer!

Info about where money raised goes is below:

Every dollar raised for Bowel Cancer New Zealand will fund essential services for patients and survivors, such as counselling, physiotherapy, and financial assistance. These services provide the support and care that many people desperately need as they battle bowel cancer.

Thank you for your support! 🧡
