Support my Move Your Butt challenge

This February, I’m taking on Move Your Butt for Bowel Cancer to raise money to support vital patient services and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love.

Because every month, 100 Kiwis lose their lives to bowel cancer.

Every dollar I raise for Bowel Cancer New Zealand will fund essential services for patients and survivors, such as counselling, physiotherapy, and financial assistance. These services provide the support and care that many people desperately need as they battle bowel cancer.

I’m asking for your help. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help me reach my fundraising goal and provide life-changing support and research to help those affected by bowel cancer.

It only takes a minute to donate, and your generosity will make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help fight bowel cancer and make sure no one has to face it alone.

Thank you for your support! 🧡

My Updates

Last week

Monday 23rd Feb
Wow what a journey, body is starting to feel quite broken now. But have completed 255km of the 300km I set out. So proud of myself, it was never going to be a battle of my mind, it was always goung to be a battle of my body vs my mindset and whether I could push through the pain.  Honestly some days I would of loved to flag it, but that is not why I did this or stuck to 300km. I have learnt a lot about myself on this journey and will continue to learn a lot until the end.

45km to go to reach 300km. I have got this!!!!

Day 17

Tuesday 17th Feb
Wow what a journey so far, there uave been some amazing days, some not so amazing days. Days of pain, days of feeling good. On the whole I am getting there, but the mental game is the biggest hirdle to overcome. This is a fraction of what My Mum, Brother and father in law have faced or are facing. The body can be a cruel place, this is only temporary for me, 28 days. Many face this for a very long time. If I help one person by bringing awareness I am happy. Completed 195km of my 300km. Beginning to believe

Waitangi Walk

Friday 6th Feb
Day 6 and my body hates me, man the 5.4 km so far has been a hard one to crunch out. Still having my focus on my reasons and all the amazing sponsorships. I am by no means a walker and know, I am only a fraction on the same as my loved ones who have walked or are continuing to walk the cancer road. It keeps me motivated and funny I look at opportunities to walk today.

Child 1 said what are you doing today the first reply was walking. Long may it continue we all know my attention span is not that good. Well happy Waitangi Day all

Day 3

Tuesday 3rd Feb
After 3 days many blisters and a very hard day to motivate myself I have managed to complete 33kms of my journey. May have blown myself out yesterday but with no work today I could scatter my walks throughout today. Wonder if anyone knows a good therapist lol, Took a lot of inspiration today from Shane who walked through Clutha today. Amazing how far he has walked, I have nothing to worry about. Today was a treadmill day, I do not cope well with shoes, so will have to really investigate new shoes, Hoka is looking the go.  Bring on many more days ahead

Motivation

Tuesday 13th Jan
Isn't hard to find motivation to help with any cancer treatment, my family has been hit particularly hard with bowel cancer and this is a small way to do something to big awareness not only for the disease but how this is affecting many without any symptoms. Your health is your wealth and we all should take charge in our life outcomes.
My Mum, Brothers have had tumors removed, along with my unvles and aunts, cousins, for myself polyps, Now my father in law-  Screening is needed at all ages this caught his. We all need to be aware especially if there is a family history. Look towards gene testing if within your family.
Every little bit helps so even a share may help get someone else get themselves screened or started on there journey
