Support my Move Your Butt challenge

This February, I’m taking on Move Your Butt for Bowel Cancer to raise money to support vital patient services and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love.

Because every month, 100 Kiwis lose their lives to bowel cancer.

Every dollar I raise for Bowel Cancer New Zealand will fund essential services for patients and survivors, such as counselling, physiotherapy, and financial assistance. These services provide the support and care that many people desperately need as they battle bowel cancer.

I’m asking for your help. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help me reach my fundraising goal and provide life-changing support and research to help those affected by bowel cancer.

It only takes a minute to donate, and your generosity will make a real difference to the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help fight bowel cancer and make sure no one has to face it alone.

Thank you for your support! 🧡

Trial run done and dusted, bring on 1 Feb

Thursday 29th Jan
I’ve got to say I’m very happy and extremely appreciative of all those that have supported me with a donation for the challenge.  My original target was $300 and we achieved that quite quickly so I upped the ante!  Went to $500, $600 then $800.  Well $800 is done so up the target went again.  I’ve set it at 1200 - if you can dream it, then you can do it 😊.
I’ve managed to walk 100km in January as a trial run,  what I’ve come to realise is, a 5km walk on the main road at a good pace is challenging.  The road is hard and the traffic is fast at 100kmh.  Safety first, so there’s a bit of stopping and starting to move off the road, especially for larger vehicles and trucks.  Both of my feet from the arches, the tops and all the front of my ankles hurt - I’m not sure why, I have good shoes 🤷‍♀️, but if I slow my pace down a bit they don’t hurt as much.
I’m determined to do the 100km in Feb, a bit of discomfort compared to what anyone going through Bowel cancer has to endure is nothing, and the same can be said about the weather.  Rain, storm, wind, sunshine - cancer shows it’s ugly self so likewise, I’ll be getting my kms done no matter the weather

And it’s up again

Wednesday 14th Jan
When you hit your goal and there’s still over 2 weeks before the official start of the challenge, what do you do??  Simple….you raise the target and keep on going!

Thank God for the bowel screening program

Thursday 1st Jan
In September 2014, when we heard the news, Brian has Colorectal cancer, our world changed forever.
I couldn't believe this was happening to us, there were no obvious signs, no weight loss, no change in appetite or bowel movements, no upset or sore tummies.  There was nothing!! Well at least that's what we thought!!!  How wrong we were - in hindsight a week earlier Brian had mentioned that he had a bit of a "funny" tummy.
He also commented that he thought his bowel movements were becoming more regular - Great we thought - the lovely tropical fruit salads we were having now after moving to North Queensland were doing good.  Nope - they were his signs!!!!
If it had been you, would you have questioned it??  I am going to think not.
This is why I say Thank God for the bowel screening program.  It was that program that saved Brian's life - he had done the free test sent to our home and it was after we got the diagnosis that the "lightbult moment" happened and we remembered the funny tummy and the increase in bowel movements.
Brians diagnosis was Stage III Colorectal cancer, which had spread through the canal wall and into his lymp nodes.
Thus begun his greatest battle and Victory

Thank you to my supporters
